3 MONTH STEPS TO HOLIDAY DECORATING-
STEP ONE: OCTOBER- DE-CLUTTER YOUR STYLE
A cluttered look is caused by too many different shapes in a small space.
To avoid the cluttered look in any room, try these quick fixes over the next month-
In November I will list the second step of quick holiday decorating.
Impact the room with one to three large focal points.
A fireplace mantel, a large window, a large piece of furniture, a large painting,
a sculpture piece on a pedestal.
Keep all other items in the room smaller than this main focal point.
Keep the smaller items in the same color tone, or color range. For example: all green
items (olive green, kelly green, light green). Or use kelly green, bright blue-green
(turquoise) and a bright yellow green (lime green).
Remove all other small décor items from the room.

If buying new décor keep in mind these new 2007-spring and fall colors-
the neutrals
Going back to neutrals provides a look of luxury and comfort, using browns and grays.
Not the rusty browns of the 1970’s but richer, darker, and deeper mixed with mocha, and cool grays to metallic silver.
In 2008 you will see even more grays mixed with deep purple-blues.
the colors
White AND ivory with spa blues…that’s water blue..a wonderful way to transition to 2007 is to take your 2005 & 2006 greens and mix with deep blue and teals. Blue-purple will be a strong color in fall 2007. Accessorize with a white and ivory mix.
Pastels have slowly entered our lives with the bright lime, pink and yellows, but next spring expect to see soft pastels, light yellow, light aqua, and light lilac.
